Beauty of a Card

I’m not sure if its because of gambling and poker or their long history, but my experience has shown that everyone loves playing card illustrations. The king, queen, jack, ace, and numbers are so iconic. When set against each of the suits, they become so special to me. Maybe its because of the pagan symbols that go along with the cards. Playing cards are loosely based on Tarot cards which are full of different symbols. The spade is like the sword, the heart is the cup, the diamond is the star, and the club is the wand. I’ve always been a fan of symbols and deeper meanings and playing cards are based on them.

No matter the reason why I like playing cards, all one has to do is walk into a trendy clothing store to find articles full of playing card motifs. I’ve seen tattoos with jokers, t-shirts with jacks, belts with spades, and much more. That’s why when I came across the idea of a skateboard design with a card on it, I knew it would be popular. Heck, I wouldn’t be surprised if there isn’t one already. If there is, that designer is smart and if not, I came up with a cool idea.

  1. Hi there,

I looked over your blog and it looks really good. Do you ever do link exchanges on your blog roll? If you do, I’d like to exchange links with you.

Let me know if you’re interested.

    Thanks..

Did you know the king of hearts is the only king without a moustache!

Great job on the skateboard. Those are some mad pen-tool skills (and props for patience)!
