Stoner Mind

Today I woke up at 4:30am to take one of our shelter dogs, Dexter, to Fox News. I was really happy to do it; however, by about 2pm, my mind was pretty mushy. I was lucky enough to leave work at 4 but I was still groggy. And at work today all I wanted to do was draw, paint, or just not think. Of course, because that was what I wanted to do, I had to try and troubleshoot this form that wasn’t working on the spcaLA site.

Nevertheless, when I got home, I got to start designing. I first started listening to this cool online radio site I found from Smashing Magazine called Designers Mix. As far as I understand, designers can post their favorite music play lists that they use when they design so that others can enjoy them too. I just started listening to Betrayal in New Tokyo and loved it. It was mesmerizing enough to fit my mood perfectly.

What I created was what I wanted to create on Sunday: a post devoted to Veer’s free font of the month: Organon Sans Demibold. This time I decided to learn more about the typeface before I start designing and as usual, research maid off. I found out that Organon was named after what Aristotle’s followers, the Peripatetics, called his standard collection of six works on logic. When I learned about that, I new I wanted to deal with something on logic and maybe the number six.

What did I do? I tried to visually represent what my mind was feeling like today: that the strict structure and methodology of code can make you feel like its the end of the world.

That’s why today’s CD cover first has a background of code with highlights of end times statements. When I was writing the background, I even wrote about evil robots. Hehe. Then I added the title of the fictitious band, Organon, and titled the album after the devil’s number: 666.

Its really simple but I’m satisfies with it. Maybe when I’m less groggy we can see what I make next.
