Start of a Mexican Influence?

So a while ago my girlfriend gave me an idea for a band name: Unnecessary Nachos. Its a funny name but has a certain ring to it that flows off the tongue well. It also leaves some people saying “unnecessary nachos?! There is no such thing as unnecessary nachos!” That quote would be from my mom who loves Mexican food by the way.

Well, today I made another album cover and this time its for the metal band, Unnecessary Nachos. I was trying to play with the idea of metal rock meets tortilla chips. I went with the tortilla chip shape for the main logo, a typeface that hinted towards the Mexican-Texan western theme, and a Dia de los Muertos skull for the tortilla chip idea and the flames and metal textures for the metal theme.

By the end of the project, I found an appreciation towards the skull. Its kind of cartoony and serious at the same time. It sort of reminded me of the old Beetle Juice cartoon. I think I’m going to play more with this Mexican style of art for a while and see where it takes me. Sounds good?
